LAST Thursday evening, as EU referendum polling day drew to a close, I sat in the late evening sunshine and drank tea with my friend Kevin Hollinrake, the MP for the neighbouring Thirsk and Malton constituency.
Last weekend was jam-packed with community events in the constituency. In the space of 48 hours I managed to attend two village fetes, start a 10k race and fun run, judge the parade floats at a festival and pick the best young handler in a dog show.
RIGHT now there’s a company in China that wants to import tea from the UK. There’s a firm in New Zealand that wants to buy British relishes and sauces. An importer in Spain wants to buy British beef and offal and a Czech retailer is looking to source British pet and equine products.
