Living Well in Later Life

Helping older people get the best out of life is the aim of a special event in Northallerton organised by the town’s MP.

Rishi Sunak’s Older Persons’ Fair will be held in the Golden Lion Hotel, in the High Street, on Wednesday, September 26.

The fair will bring together around 30 local organisations offering advice and information about a huge range of local services and opportunites for older people.

The event – between 10am and 1pm in the hotel’s Yorkshire Suite - is organised around the theme Live Well in Later Life. It will be hosted by the Richmond (Yorks) MP and is completely free. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be served throughout the morning.

Mr Sunak said: “The fair will bring together all the people who can help older people get the best out of life. There is lots of help and opportunities available but it can be difficult to find out about it and access it. The fair will bring all the sources of help and opportunity together.”

“There will be the chance to learn about online banking, pensions and benefits, get advice about staying healthy, about housing, how to keep your home safe and deal with cold callers and scammers,” he added.
