Rishi cutting the ribbon at the new Richmond Banking Hub

Rishi officially opened the new Banking Hub at 20 King Street last week, marking a significant milestone in ensuring access to cash and face-to-face banking services for the local community.

Rishi cut the ribbon at the opening ceremony, attended by local residents, business leaders, and representatives from the banking and postal sectors.

The hub, now operating from its permanent location, provides a counter service run by the Post Office for everyday banking transactions, as well as Community Banker services from major banks.

The opening ceremony celebrated the collaboration that brought the project to fruition, with key partners from Cash Access UK, the Post Office and local community in attendance.

Reflecting on the importance of the hub, Rishi said:
“It’s fantastic to see the Richmond Banking Hub officially open and ready to serve the community. Having visited the site earlier in its development, I’m delighted to see it completed and providing such a valuable service to local residents. Banking hubs represent an important commitment to maintaining financial inclusion and supporting the needs of all members of our community.”

Gareth Oakley, CEO of Cash Access UK, commented:
“I’m thrilled to announce the opening of our Richmond hub, ensuring crucial access to cash and face-to-face banking services for residents and businesses. A big thanks to the Post Office for hosting us while we found and refurbished our new home.”

Phil Upton, Secretary and Treasurer of Richmond Business Association Membership, added:
“The Richmond Banking Hub is great news, providing a consistent, familiar way for residents to manage their finances. I’m sure it will prove to be a great success.”

The hub is already making a difference for local residents, small businesses, and vulnerable customers who rely on cash and in-person support. The hub offers weekday services and features a rotating schedule of Community Bankers, ensuring customers can access tailored advice from their bank.
