Getting To Know The Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority

The Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority (YDNPA) is the independent body that oversees the Dales. I met with Chief Executive David Butterworth to understand more about what the Authority does and its interaction with the local community.

Richmond Coffee Morning

Richmond Town Hall hosts regular coffee mornings for various local charities. I went along this morning to introduce myself to residents and hear about their concerns.  

Remembrance Sunday

I was honoured to take part in Richmond’s Remembrance Day ceremony today. The British Legion, local officials, military and volunteers came together to stage an excellent tribute.

Setting Up On Northallerton High Street

Meeting people is the only way to really learn about all the issues that concern the community. So on Saturday, I took my place alongside dozens of market traders and set up a street stall in front of Northallerton Town Hall.

Northdale Horticulture – helping people through work

I came to see the work of a wonderful charity today. Northdale Horticulture provides training and work-based activities for adults with learning disabilities across the Hambleton and Richmondshire districts of North Yorkshire.

Bonfire Night In Northallerton

I had a great evening at Northallerton’s Bonfire Night and Fireworks display. It was a good opportunity to speak to a lot of people from the local community and enjoy a night out together.

Inspired by Captain Cook

Early Wednesday morning I headed to Great Ayton for Captain Cook Day. The great British cartographer and adventurer James Cook spent his early years in Airey Farm, just outside the town, and so each year residents have a day of celebration on his birthday.
