A Stokesley breast cancer survivor has received recognition for her campaigning work from the Prime Minister.

Laura Ashurst was presented with a Points of Light Award by Rishi – who is also her local MP.

Rishi saw Christmas celebrations get underway in his constituency with visits to festive events in Bedale and Morton on Swale.

The MP and his wife Akshata called in to the Bedale Christmas Festival held in and around Bedale Hall.

He saw how the completed scheme has improved the protection for more than 500 homes and businesses in the town.

Last Friday I made my second visit there in a month when I had the honour of opening the new £5m diagnostic unit.
